Outreach activities
In this section of the project Oceanographic Logbook: Exploring the Past of Our Oceans with Foraminifera (2024), you will find several galleries showcasing the activities carried out to share the DETECTORS research project with the public.
Talks
Several talks were held on climate change, plankton, foraminifera, and the DETECTORS project at venues such as the Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM), the “Más” Program for older adults in Lo Espejo, Liceo Pencopolitano B-40, and the Natural History Museum of Concepción.
Science fair
We participated in a science fair in Coquimbo, where we showcased visual materials such as posters and illustrations, along with educational resources including foraminifera samples, a USB microscope, and 3D models of foraminifera, among others.
Art exhibition
A small exhibition were held at the Natural History Museum of Concepción and the Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM) related to the DETECTORS project, featuring illustrations by myself and other artists, primarily focusing on planktonic and benthic foraminifera.
Scientific-artistic workshops
Several science-and-art workshops linked to the talks were held at the Museo Interactivo Mirador (MIM), the “Más” Program for older adults in Lo Espejo, Liceo Pencopolitano B-40, and the Natural History Museum of Concepción.
